Malaya and Julie

A Happy Ending

Malaya went home with her owner Julie after 7 months at the ranch in Devore. Julie had moved cross country with Malaya in June of 2006 only to learn there was no place available to her with a big white dog. Since Julie was already enrolled in a school in Santa Barbara she was afraid she was going to have to give up Malaya permanently. BUT since Julie appeared to be a sincerely dedicated owner rescue agreed to hold Malaya until Julie could find a place for her and Malaya to live. Julie drove the 6 hour round trip from Santa Barbara to Devore as often as she could to spend time with Malaya and take her out to lunch or on short jaunts in the car.

During the 7 months it sometimes looked unlikely that Julie would ever be able to retrieve Malaya but then out of the blue in January Julie found a little cottage with a fenced yard and an understanding landlord so Julie and Malaya were reunited. You can tell by the smiles this is a happy ending for all.

Rescue is always happy to hold dogs until a devoted owner can get their life in order and take back their beloved pet.
