9 Year Old Female

Lucy is about 9 1/2 years old, totally deaf, and has a very loving and sweet temperament. She is friendly to everyone, good with other dogs, a bit timid with strangers at first and doesn't care much for thunder & lightning! Not sure how she would be around cats, but her mellow attitude suggests that she would want to be friends with them, if she met one! She's white all over, except for the black ear/eye patch. She has been raised with love and has never learned what a spanking is. She has been an outside dog in a large yard her whole life. Her big brother Willy, who was a pyrenees as well, passed away at 13 just about two years ago. Being deaf, she looked to him and watched him for cues when people arrived or when they were called for dinner. When her evening meal is ready, the back porch light is her signal to come & get it! She is smart, and understands some hand signals, (stay, come, sit). Her person recently passed away, and there is nobody in the family who can care for her properly, so she is looking for a good home with a loving and attentive human. She may not make an ideal indoor pet, as the pyrenees breed is known for sleeping in doorways, and being deaf, that may be inconvenient. She has a wound that has just come to her interim-caretakers' attention, a sore on her left forearm/elbow. She seems to be walking fine, but is licking at it, and it needs to be tended to soon. It doesn't appear to be infected, so hopefully a vet can care for her and patch it up easily. She's had all her shots, never been sick, and is in need of a good haircut. Overall, she is a wonderful and sweet dog, and needs a happy home with someone who loves her, and she is impossible not to love.
